This FAQ should not be used as a substitute for figuring things out for yourself. ======================= General guild questions ======================= Q: Why does it say "No such skill/spell exists" for skills in this guild? A: For many of the skills/spells, you cannot see the help until you have trained 1% in the skill or spell. -------- Q: How do I use a poison? A: Poisons are used by casting the 'Sting of Aelena' spell. In order to use a poison, you must have unlocked the poison, collected the proper reagent, and selected the poison to be cast. -------- Q: How do I unlock a poison? A: Talk to the cultist Dungar in the guild. -------- Q: What are the reagents for poisons? A: The reagents are organs that you collect from corpses using dissection. You can determine the organ you need for each poison you have unlocked with the 'aelena reagents' command. -------- Q: How do I store the organs until I want to use them? A: Once you have dissected an organ of the appropriate type for use with a poison (use 'aelena reagents' to list the proper organ for each poison you have unlocked), you can use your familiar to store it. You do this with the command 'familiar store '. Note that you do not give the name of the organ to the command, but you must give the name of the poison that will use the organ. This is because that a particular organ may be able to be used for more than one poison, but you must select which poison it will be used for in advance. -------- Q: How do I select a poison to be cast by Sting of Aelena? A: Use the command 'aelena select '. The 'aelena reagents' command will list the names of the poisons that you can select. Sting of Aelena will continue to cast this poison until you select a new poison. -------- Q: What do the poisons do? A: The first three poisons you get are Slow Death, Black Trance, and Rusted blade. Slow Death: This poison deals damage over a length of time. The damage continues even after you have left combat. Black Trance: When used on yourself, your health is regenerated at a much faster rate (increased hpr). Rusted Blade: This increases the damage done by your weapons. -------- Q: How do I get more poisons? A: Dungar will give you your first three poisons. To gain more poisons, you must do guild quests. -------- Q: How do I get reputation? A: You gain rep in the guild by using poisons. Specifically this means casting Sting of Aelena. When you have gained enough rep, you may train another % in the Insight of Venoms skill. -------- Q: How do I tell how much reputation I have? A: When you use the 'aelena reagents' command, look at the bar at the bottom of the display. The number of "==" marks is your level of reputation. This should match the amount that you can train the Insight of venoms skill. The color of this bar indicates your progress toward the next level of reputation. The color will change from blue -> cyan -> green -> yellow -> red as you progress toward your next % of Insight. -------- Q: What does Force of chaos effect? A: It effects at least Thrust. -------- Q: Can I use weapon types other than short blades with Wound and Greater wound? A: You can use long blades as well as short blades with Wound. Other types of weapons do not work. -------- Q: What does Command Blade do? A: Apparently it gives you +hit. -------- Q: What does Nightfall do? A: It creates darkness in the rooms around you. Try using the 'aelena darkclair' command before and after casting Nightfall, which displays the light level of adjacent rooms. -------- Q: So what use is Nightfall? A: No idea. -------- Q: What does The shadow do? A: Darkness is your friend, use it to hide and conceal you. -------- Q: How can you target yourself with a spell when The Shadow is up? A: The target 'me' works, such as "cast infravision at me" -------- Q: What does Scorpions decision do? A: It kills you. Try it, its fun! -------- Q: What are the portals in the guild? A: The western portal takes you to the Demonic Realms of Aelena, which is a dangerous realm of fire and lava. The eastern portal appears to be dormant... ================== Familiar questions ================== Q: How do I get familiar points? A: Your familiar gains rep when it consumes corpses or hearts. After a certain amount of rep is gained, your familiar will level and you will gain 5 points to spend on familiar abilities. -------- Q: Does it make a difference if the familiar consumes hearts instead of corpses? A: This is unknown, but it seems reasonable to assume that there is not much difference. However, consuming just hearts is not particularly practical unless you can consistently dissect two organs from a corpse, which probably requires a second guild like alchemists. -------- Q: What does the familiar use HP/SP/EP for? A: Various familiar abilities use up the familiar's SP and EP, which must be regenned before the familiar can use those abilities again. So far, there is no use for the familiar's HP (at least that I know of). -------- Q: What does Chaos Weapon do, and how do you use it? A: When used in conjunction with one of the Essence abilities, it changes the damage type of your weapons. To use Chaos Weapon with Essence of Poison for example, you use the command "familiar chaos_weapon poison". -------- Q: What does 'familiar reinc' do? Can I choose new abilities for my familiar? Can I do this as much as I want? A: No! While it will let you choose new abilities for your familiar, you can only reinc your familiar ONE time. After that, you can not change the abilites on your familiar. Even if you reinc out of Aelena and return later, your familiar will retain its abilities. After your one familiar reinc in used, there is no know way to change your familiar's abilties. Since familiar levels are gained very slowly, you must choose your familiar's abilties very wisely! =============== Quest questions =============== Q: How do I start the guild quests? A: In order to do the guild quests, you must have gained a certain % of Insight of venoms. The amount of Insight that is necessary is different for each quest. You start quests by talking to the cultists in the Demonic Realms, which you can reach by entering the western portal in the guild. -------- Q: How many quests are there? A: There are at least 4, given by the cultists Jaelana, Surna, Lynn, and Kyth in the Demonic Realms. Most of the quests usually require assistance from other members, or even members of certain other guilds. The amount of Insight of venoms required for each of these four quests is: Jaelana: 1% Surna: 2% Lynn: 4% Kyth: 5% =============== If you have corrections/additions to this FAQ, please let me know online via tells.
